Obituary of Sophie Stursa

Sophie E. Hensel Stursa, age 91, of Wellington, OH, formerly of Westfield, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009. She was born February 18, 1918 in Studa, PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Mikloda) Hensel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Frank J. Stursa, who passed away on January 30th, 1976. They were married on October 12, 1940. Also preceding her in death was her Son, Larry Stursa, her sisters, Mary Marz, Margaret Vlk, Ruth Hill, Pauline Kurtz, and a brother, John Hensel. Sophie lived in Westfield from 1946 until 15 years ago. She was an active member of St. Peters Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir. At one time she was employed at the Westfield Sewing Factory, had worked at Westfield Memorial Hospital as an Aide and worked many years in Home Health Care. She is survived by three daughters, Gwen L. (Howard) Haskin of Westfield, Carol J. (Donald) Mosier of McKane, PA, Donna L. (James) Anderson of Westfield, and one son, Frank A. (Barbara) Stursa of Mansfield, OH, and a close friend, who was like a son, Jerry (Sue) Ohlbeck of Sherman, NY. She is also survived by a sister, Agnes Barber of Wellington, OH and a brother, Charles (Mary) Hensel of Ashland, OH. Grandchildren include Howard F. (Sue) Haskin of Sherrillsford, NC; Mark, Jessica, and Darren Stursa all from OH; Brian Mosier of McKane, PA; Amie (Joe) KeFauver of Middleton, MD; and Jason Stursa of Mayville, NY; Great Grandchildren include Maddie, Tyler, and Cooper KeFauver, all from Middleton, MD; along with Travis and Taylor Stursa of Mayville, NY A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21st, 2009 at 2:00pm in St. Peters Episcopal Church, 12 Elm Street, Westfield, with the Rev.
