William H. “Bill” Reid, 90, of Westfield, NY passed away Monday afternoon at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Erie, Pa.

He was born on March 8, 1931 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Herbert and Vera (Stowell) Reid.

A lifelong resident of Westfield, Bill graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 1949. He was a proud patriot who served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Having being commissioned in Alaska he was and expert in morse code and communicated with people all over the world sharing classified information.

Bill’s memberships included the Westfield Moose, the Fire Department, Police Auxiliary, VFW, American Legion and the Rod & Gun Club. At the time of his passing, he was the last remaining member of his immediate family. He loved motorcycles especially his 1947 “Indian”.

He is survived by four nephews, Ray Norberg of Jamestown, Phil and Andy Sailor of Illinois, Paul Sailor of Montana; close friend, Gary Hemmer; his loving companion, Joan “Kay” Button of Westfield.

Besides his parents Bill was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 11 until the time of services at 1 PM. Interment will follow in the Westfield Cemetery.
