Obituary of Mary Ann Nichols

Mary Ann Nichols, 72, of Westfield, NY passed away from congestive heart failure on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, PA.

She was born on June 5, 1948 in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late William (Buddy) and Dolores (Gerrier) Bennett. She married Terry L. Nichols on May 15, 1971 in Bradford, Pa. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jane Peabody on November 29, 2017.

Surviving are her daughters: Annmarie (James) Petersen of Albany, NY and Lorianne Ritter (Jim)  of Fredonia, NY; her sons: Michael Nichols (Melinda) of Buffalo, NY, Howard (Dawn) Nichols of Westfield, NY, James (Amanda) Nichols of Westfield, NY, John Arcadipane of Blasdell, NY and Joey Gligora of Westfield, NY. She is also survived by her two sisters, Shirley (John) Capaccioli of Cape Cod, MA and Linda Gagne of Weymouth, MA. Mary was a beloved grandmother of thirty-four grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary was a 1966 graduate of South Boston High School and worked as an accountant and shipping clerk at the Red Wing plant in Fredonia, NY, retiring after many years of service.

Mary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jamestown, NY and a proud member of the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies auxiliary.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Westfield Cemetery at 1 PM. Bishop Keith Fairbank of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate.

Flowers will be graciously accepted, and donations should be sent in her name to the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY.
