Robert L. “Benny” Belcher, 91, of Westfield, NY passed away Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021 at his daughter Nancy’s home in Lake Suzy, Fla. after a brief illness with his family at his side.

Benny was born on October 21, 1929 in Charleston, W.VA. the son of the late Artie and Mattie (Pence) Belcher. He moved to Westfield in 1950, where he married Isabelle Rotunda on April 29,1950 and she preceded in death in 2010.

He worked for the NYC railroad for several years. Benny switched jobs and went to work for the Chautauqua & Erie Telephone Co. retiring in 1992 with 42 years of service.

Benny was a member of the Westfield LOOM #118, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Legion of the Moose (Chautauqua County), life member of the Communication Workers of America, the Little League Youth Recreation Board in the 70’s, social member of the Westfield American Legion, he coached the

“Golden Hawks” midget football team for 17 years and also was a member of St James Major RC Church (St. Dominic’s RC Church).

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (Jim) Scriven of Westfield; two sons, Dale (Alan) Belcher-White of Boston, MA and Jon (Deborah) Belcher of Westfield; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Craig) Spencer, Nathaniel, Linda, Soka and Tony Belcher, Shawn (Danielle) Gibbs, Erynne Pearson and Joshua (Amy) Belcher; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Claire Spencer, Kaden, Ryen and Gavin Gibbs; a brother, John Belcher of Charleston, W. VA.

In addition to his parents and his wife of sixty years, Isabelle Belcher he was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Leftwich and five brothers, Dennis, Ted, Curtis, Clifford and Glenn Belcher.

As per Benny’s wishes services will be private. A Celebration of Benny’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in St. Dominic’s Cemetery, Westfield. The family suggests memorial contributions in Benny’s honor to the Westfield Fire Dept. Truck Fund or the Tidewell Hospice Port Charlotte, Fla.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield.
