Joanne Houghton (Wells) Nixon, born 4 March 1928 in Ann Arbor, MI, daughter of the late Reverend James E. and Mary Elizabeth (Houghton) Wells, died 12 November 2015. A graduate of Cornell University, she married Alastair Nixon on 10 September 1949 in Orchard Park, NY. Alastair died 3 February 1988. Six children survive: Alexander Wells Nixon of Mount Dora, FL, Peter and Janet (McLean) Nixon of Cornelius, NC, Anne Elizabeth Nixon, Catherine (Nixon) and John Godlove of Sarasota, FL, Barbara (Nixon) and Kevin Policay of Virginia Beach, VA, and Nancy (Nixon) and Jake Ensign of Jamestown, NY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, James E. Wells. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Westfield, NY on Monday, 16 November 2015, at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St., Westfield, NY 14787. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY 14787. Messages for the family can be left at www.masonfuneral.com.
