WESTFIELD - Angelo A. "Tort" Gervasi, age 92, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at The Lutheran Home of Jamestown, NY with his son and daughter at his side. Angelo was born on February 13, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (June) Gervasi. A Westfield resident most all his life, Angelo attended Westfield Schools with the Class of 1942, when in his senior year he enlisted in the US Navy during WW II. He served with the Navy Air Force, from 1942 until 1947 attaining the rank of Aviation Machinist's Mate H, 1st Class. Following his Honorable Discharge, he became a Sales Representative for the General Cigar Co. for over 20 years, covering all of Chautauqua County. He then was a representative for a Food Brokerage company and traveled all over WNY and NW Pennsylvania. An avid sportsman, he hunted rabbit, deer and pheasant. He enjoyed playing football in High School and had a competitive spirit in every game he played in later years from Dominos to Poker to Trivial Pursuit. He bowled in several local leagues for many years and excelled at Tennis and played corn hole well into his 90's. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed a good game of Pinochle and long rides on his snowmobile. "Tort" was a life member of the American Legion and the VFW and was a former member of the Westfield Fish and Game Club. He retired to St. Petersburg and Kissimmee, FL, where he lived for over 20 years. He returned to Westfield in 2003. Angelo was liked and loved by all who met him. His charming smile and quick wit endeared him to all who met him; from the local restaurant waitresses to the wonderful staff at The Lutheran Home. He is survived by his son, Robert L. (Lillian) Gervasi of Mayville, NY, and his daughter: Kay M. (Barry) Sommers of Plantation, FL. He is further survived by his sister, Julia Gervasi of Batavia, NY. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ellen (Lawry) Gervasi who died in 2006, his long-time companion, Marjory Louch who died in 2006, and by his sisters, Eleanor Ressler and Carrie Trippy as well as by his brothers, Joseph and Samuel Gervasi.
