Lawrence S. Maggio, age 90, of Fredonia, formerly of Westfield, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Absolut Care of Dunkirk following a brief illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, in Sunday's Observer. Lawrence S. "Larry" Maggio, age 90, of Fredonia, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Absolut Care of Dunkirk following a brief illness. Larry was born March 25, 1924 in Fredonia, NY, the son of the late Bert A. and Nina (Barbarino) Maggio. A Westfield and Brocton area resident most all his life, Larry had been associated with Crocker & Sprague Coffee Company of Dunkirk for several years and then as the Sales Manager for Horton Coffee Roasters for over 22 years and was with McCullagh and Premium Coffee Roasters for over 23 years as an account executive having accounts in NY, PA and OH. He retired in 2006. Larry enjoyed working with his many customers who eventually became his friends. Following his "official" retirement, Larry became an ambassador for the McCullagh Coffee Company, a position he enjoyed until the age of 83. Larry had been a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church of Westfield, the former Frank Acquavia Post 1344 American Legion of Dunkirk, the Dunkirk Moose Lodge 89, and the Fredonia Beaver Club. His hobbies included antique cars and his beloved Cadillac's. He is survived by his four daughters: Gail (Ernest) Gens of Pulaski, TN and Dunkirk, NY, June (Dave Jourdanais) Maggio of Dunkirk, NY, Sandra (Mark) Willey of Waterford, PA, Susan (Wayne) Comstock of San Tan Valley, AZ and Portland, NY and one son: Lawrence "Larry" B. Maggio of Dunkirk. Larry was the proud grandfather of 15 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister: Mary Sloan of Sun City, AZ and his two brothers: Samuel Maggio of Westfield, NY and James Maggio of Houston, TX. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (Recek) Maggio, who died in 2004 and by his two brothers Anthony and Russell Maggio. Friends may call on Monday evening, March 16, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend the Funeral Service to be held there on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 2:00 Pm with Father Joseph Walter officiating. Private burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY 14787 or to the Charity of one's choice.
