Obituary of Barbara T. Seiter

WESTFIELD - Barbara T. Seiter, age 85, formerly of Kent St., Westfield, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at The Rouse Warren County Home in Youngsville, PA, following an extended illness. Barbara was born on March 27, 1929 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Walter and Arlene (Ames) Tucker. A graduate of Westfield Academy, Barbara earned her Associate degree in Social Work from Jamestown Community College and had been employed by the Chautauqua County Dept. of Social Services as a Social Worker for many years. She had also worked in the Westfield School cafeteria prior to her career with the County. A Westfield area resident all her life, Barbara was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield where she was active in Church activities and helped to establish the Westfield Food Pantry and served on its board of directors. She was also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Westfield Community Kitchen. When her children were young, Barbara was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader. She was a very Civic minded person, who always found time to serve her fellow citizens. She was a member of The Women of The Moose Chapter 517 and had been a member and Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and Bridge. She also enjoyed Knitting; to many children she was known as "the mitten lady". She is survived by one daughter: Melody (Randy) Seiter-Edwards of Westfield and two sons: David (Zada) Seiter of Albion, MI, and Scott (Cindy) Seiter of Jacksonville, FL. She is further survived by her four grandchildren, Susan Seiter (Mark) Ward of Thompson Station, TN, Aaron (Sara) Seiter of Pittsburgh, PA, Eric Thompson of Brandon, FL and Gary (Crystal) Thompson of Erlanger, KY. Several Great Grandchildren and her sister Nancy A. Miller of Milford, MI, also survive. Friends may call on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 5:00PM until 7:00 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY and again on Saturday morning, February 7, 2015 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, 101 East Main Street, Westfield, NY, with Rev. Matthew Golibersuch officiating. Burial will be private in Westfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Westfield, 101 E. Main St. or to the Fire Department Of Westfield Memorial Fund, 23 Elm Street, both in Westfield, NY 14787.
