Westfield - Shirley D. Hoyt, age 88, of Westfield, died peacefully on ______________ at the Absolut Care of Westfield. Mrs. Hoyt was born June 14, 1926 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Sherman and Nellie (Haviland) Dibble. Shirley married the love of her life, Arland Hoyt on October 22,1945 in Westfield, NY at the First Baptist Church. Together they raised six wonderful children. She and her husband ran Hoyt's Service Master of Jamestown for 10 years and also Hoyt's Homemade Candies,from their home, specializing in chocolates and peanut briddle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arland Hoyt, whom died on May 16, 2008. Shirley loved her church family, she was a member of the Choir, she served as a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She had been employed by Quality Markets of Westfield, NY as a cashier for 24 years retiring in 2012. In her spare time, she loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking for her family. Shirley is survived by three daughters: Linda (Edwin) Rone and Marcia (Pete) Bargo of Atlanta, GA, Laurie (Mike) Kniowski of Holland, MI and three sons: Sid (Karen) Hoyt of Westfield, NY, Dan (Lerein) Hoyt of Alamagordo, NM, Tim (Julie) Hoyt of Tucson, AZ. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children. Shirley was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carla Kay Hoyt, and her two sisters, Minford Dibble and Laura Slocum. The funeral will be held on_______________________________________ at the First Baptist Church Of Westfield, 9 Kent Street, Westfield, NY with____________________________ officiating. Burial will be private in the Westfield Cemetery. WESTFIELD - Shirley Elta Dibble Hoyt, age 88, of Westfield, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2014 with her family at her side at the Absolut Care of Westfield following an extended illness. Shirley was born in Westfield on June 14, 1926, a daughter of the late Sherman and Nellie (Haviland) Dibble. She lived in Westfield all her life and graduated from Westfield Academy in 1944. She married Arland Hoyt on October 22, 1945. Arland was well known throughout the Chautauqua County area for his famous Hoyt's Homemade Candies, which they packaged and delivered to many area retail outlets. Shirley retired in 1988 after more than 30 years as co-owner of ServiceMaster of Jamestown. Following her retirement, she worked part time from 1990-2010, for Quality Markets and later TOPS. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westfield, where she was active in many church affairs especially in social events managing the kitchen. Survivors include her six children: Linda (Ed) Rone of Atlanta, GA, Sid (Karen) Hoyt of Westfield, Marcia (Pete) Bargo of Atlanta, GA, Dan (Lerien) Hoyt of Alamogordo, NM, Tim (Julie) Hoyt of Tucson, AZ, and Laurie (Mike) Kniowski of Holland MI. Shirley is also survived by 13 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Arland, an infant daughter, Carla Kay Hoyt, her brother Minford Dibble and her sister Laura Slocum. Friends may call on Tuesday evening, July 22, 2014 from 7 to 9 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 23rd at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Westfield with Pastor Thayne Bodenmiller officiating. Shirley's family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Burial will be private in Westfield Cemetery.
