WESTFIELD - Clarence Glade Whitesell, age 78, of Prospect Road, Westfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday evening, November 13, 2013 following an extended illness. Glade was born on December 14, 1934 in Punxsutawney, PA, the son of the late Norman and Louella (Hollenbaugh) Whitesell. A graduate of Punxsutawney High School, he served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958. Glade had been a Westfield resident since 1963 having moved here from Jamestown along with his young family. He then started a long career in Grape Farming on the David Ross Grape Farm. Glade was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially trapping. He had been the proprietor of Whitesell's Fur Exchange for several years at his home on Prospect Road. He loved to garden, mostly fruits and vegetables. He had been very active in the Moose Lodge of Westfield holding almost every office and was an active member of the Ritual Committee. Glade was a member the National Trappers Association and a Life Member of the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge # 118. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, C. Kay (Schrecongost) Whitesell whom he married on May 2, 1959 and by his four daughters: Terri (Brett) MacCubbin, Laurie (Don, Jr.) Haskin Paula K. Whitesell and Marsha E. Nusom all of Westfield, NY. Glade was the proud grandfather of Andrew Fochtman of Bradford, PA, Chelsey MacCubbin of Buffalo, NY, Dylan MacCubbin , Jason Whitesell, Jeffery Schermerhorn, Cody Torres Alex Nusom ,Brent Nusom and Brady Nusom all of Westfield, and the Great Grandfather of, Logan, Mason and Madelyn Whitesell. He is further survived by his brother: Richard (Carol) Whitesell of Barrington, IL. Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY, on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. All other services will be private.
