Westfield - James F. "Duff" Monroe, age 82, of First Street, Barcelona, died unexpectedly, Saturday, June 2, 2012 at home. "Duff" was born on November 27, 1929 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Harry Charles and Doris Margarett (Hanks) Monroe. A Barcelona area resident all his life, Duff, was a 1947 graduate of Westfield High School and was a US Army Veteran serving from 1948 until 1951 during the Korean War. Duff joined his family in business at Monroe's Marina upon returning from the service. He had been a Commercial Fisherman on Lake Erie for many years, mostly aboard the "Doris M", the family fishing boat. He enjoyed everything about the fish business and the Marina business. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed puttering around his home, business and "the lake". He was an accomplished woodworker who crafted nautical themed gifts, tables and drawings. Duff was a hard working American, who, often times would say what was on his mind simply because he could. He is survived by his daughter: Sabrena R. Monroe of Statesville, NC and his son, Cameron F. Monroe of Westfield, NY. Duff was the proud grandfather of, Heather Monroe of Westfield, NY, Casey Foreman of East Stroudsburg, PA, Megan Foreman of Statesville, NC and Erica Foreman of Huntersville, NC. He is further survived by his brother, John E. Monroe of Westfield. Friends may call on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 2-5 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY.
