Obituary of Ralph Rivera JR

WESTFIELD - Ralph G. Rivera, Jr., age 55, of Sampson St., Jamestown, formerly of Westfield, NY, died Monday, May 28, 2012 in Ashville, NY. Ralph was born on August 24, 1956 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Ralph G. and Confesora (Martinez Santiago) Rivera, Sr. Ralph was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving honorably from 1974 until 1976. Upon his return, he spent most of his life in Jamestown, NY, as a self-employed general contractor. Ralph was known for the quality of his work and his expertise. He was a hard worker, who took pride in his work, and he was always going the extra mile. Ralph was gracious and generous, and he always enjoyed helping his friends and family. Mr. Rivera was a member of American Legion. He leaves behind 4 children; Shawn J. Rivera of Ashville, Nicole R. Young and husband Kevin N. Young of Jamestown, Russell (Rusty) A. Maring of Mayville, NY, and Anthony (Tony) J. Maring of Silver Springs, MD. Ralph, also, leaves behind 5 grandchildren; newly born Kevin N. Young Jr., Alyssa J. Rivera, Contessa P. Rivera, Elijah M. Rivera, and Olivia A.M. Maring. He is the brother of: Gladys Rivera of Westfield, NY, Middalia Kan of Marshburg, PA, Lus Marie Rivera of Jamestown, NY and Robert L. Rivera of Alpharetta, GA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and two infant sisters. Calling hours will be Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, where the funeral service will be held immediately following at 8:00 PM.
