Obituary of Richard Allen Lewis

WESTFIELD - Richard Allen "Rick" Lewis, age 62, of Main Street, Westfield died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Westfield Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Rick was born on October 18, 1948 in Westfield, NY, a son of the late Merle and Charlotte (Smith) Lewis. A Westfield area resident all his life, Rick was a 1968 graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School. He entered the US Army serving in Vietnam and attained the rank of Specialist E-5 as a Helicopter Mechanic. When he came home, he became employed by the former Mayville Plastics and later went to work at the former Ajax Flexible Couplings Co., now Renold, Inc., as an assembler. He was due to retire this April. He enjoyed golf, bowling, going to country music concerts. He recently enjoyed traveling with his loving companion, Judi to Atlantic City and New York City. He was a very faithful Cleveland Indians fan, Buffalo Bills fan and Buffalo Sabres fan. Keeping with his military training, Rick enjoyed Air shows and Helicopter trivia. Above all else, his family was most important to him. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 118, and the John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion, both of Westfield. Rick is Survived by his one sister: Kathleen (Tony) Pisarcik of Sinclairville, NY and his two brothers: Raymond (Betty) Lewis and Robert (Sue) Lewis both of Westfield, NY. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Rick is further survived by his loving companion and caregiver, Judith "Judi" Helman also of Westfield. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, and are invited to attend his funeral Service on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 West Main Road, Westfield with Rev. Ryan Grafton officiating. Private burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.
