Kennst du das auch?
Kennst du das auch, wenn man um Mitternacht
Betrachtet ernst des Sternenhimmels Pracht,
Wenn die bewegte, wilde Tagesflut
Im Schloß der Nacht so friedlich träumend ruth?
Wie da das „große Ich” zu Staub verweht;
Weil plötzlich vor erschrockner Seele steht
Der unausdenkbar weite Schöpfungsplan,
Der unermessnen Welten Lauf und Bahn.
Was ist der Mensch, was seine Kraft, sein Geist
Gemessen an dem Heer, das droben streift,
Schon gegenüber unsrer eignen Welt?
Ein Nichts! Ein Tropfen, der ins Weltmeer fällt!
Ein tiefes Ahnen durch die Seele geht
Vom ew`gen Gott, des Name ringsum steht;
Ich fühl` mit Zittern seines Geistes Hauch -
Kennst du das auch? - - -

Memories - May be beautiful and yet - What's too painful to remember - We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter - We will remember - Whenever we remember - The way we were

Die Engel
Sie haben alle müde Münde
und helle Seelen ohne Saum.
Und eine Sehnsucht (wie nach Sünde)
geht ihnen manchmal durch den Traum.
Fast gleichen sie einander alle;
in Gottes Gärten schweigen sie,
wie viele, viele Intervalle
in seiner Macht und Melodie.
Nur wenn sie ihre Flügel breiten,
sind sie die Wecker eines Winds:
als ginge Gott mit seinen weiten
Bildhauerhänden durch die Seiten
im dunklen Buch des Anbeginns.
Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926)

flog durch die stillen Lande als flöge sie nach Haus.

Additional Obit Info
WESTFIELD - Daniel A. Mardana, age 67, of West Main Street, Westfield, NY, died unexpectedly, Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015 at home.
Dan was born on January 7, 1948 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Albert and Alice Cazminovich.
He was a 1965 graduate of Lakeshore High School and received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Buffalo State College. He had been employed for many years as a Mechanical Engineer; however his passion was for Art and Painting.
Dan served three tours in Vietnam with the US Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969 and served with the US Army from 1975-1978.
Our HERO is sailing free of earthly burdens, painting the skies for those of us left behind. He was a man who possessed many talents; he was an artist, composer, inventor, and chef. Most of all though he was known for his infinite capacity to love all living things! He will be so sadly missed! He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Harrison and by his three daughters: Tricia Artise of Brocton, NY, Amanda Hite of Augusta, GA, Danielle Campbell of Brocton, NY and by his two sons: John Meister of Melbourne, FL, and Michael Meister of Augusta, GA. 15 Grandchildren and 4 siblings also survive.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Dan on Saturday evening, May 9, 2015, at 7:00 PM at Dan and Barbara's home, 113 West Main St., Westfield, NY.
Memorial contributions in Dan's Memory may be made to the DAV, Buffalo Chapter, 130 South Elmwood Ave #620, Buffalo, NY 14202.
