Donald Raymond "Spider" Dorman, age 74, of Cassadaga, NY, died Friday, April 10, 2015 following a brief illness.
Donald was born on November 26, 1940 in Stockton, NY a son of the late Lloyd James and Ellen Bernice (Cook) Dorman.
He was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School and attended JCC prior to serving in the US Army from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1965, having attained the rank of E4.
He had been the co-owner of Lakewood Tops in Jamestown, NY for many years.
"Spider" was a caring man who always found the "good" in people, and in life. He was an independent and strong person, a good businessman, a jack of all trades who could fix anything, an outdoorsman and an all around great guy to be around. He made us laugh. Donald enjoyed repairing antique cars and antique farm equipment, flying small planes, racing stock cars and going to car shows.
Donald was a man of Faith who was committed to his Religion. He was a member of the Stockton Community Church, the Chautauqua County Antique Car Club and the Road Ratz, the Civil Air Patrol, the Cassadaga American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose in Westfield.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Tatchell) Dorman and his son Lloyd Dorman. He is further survived by his brother, Larry (Jane) Dorman, his 2 sisters, Carol (Kelly) Brown and Dawn (Eddie) Bazzle and 8 nieces and nephews. Donald is also survived by his companion of 25 years, Janice Penhollow and her family. He greatly enjoyed being around Jan's family and loved his "adopted" grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his infant brother Thomas Harold Dorman.
Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Donald's life to be held on May 2, 2015 at 4 PM in the Stockton Community Church, 10 West Railroad Ave., Stockton, NY, 14784. Don's family will receive friends following the Celebration in the fellowship hall of the Church.
