Your infectious smile will be very much missed. I shall never forget the gluke-maker story! Pat and I were truly drawn into that for weeks and weeks. Oh, how you laughed as Pat and I just sat in utter amazement when the story was over. We couldn't believe it was over. You pulled a good one on us that time.Rest in peace my friend. Love, Sue

When our new neighbors moved in next door, we soon learned they had 10 children! Naming the Seven Dwarfs was nothing - if you could name all 10 Lanz kids in order, now that was something.
With little baby Neil in his arms, Bill Lanz introduced himself to our family.
Through the years, I came to admire this man, as he worked hard to provide for his boystrous and active family. From the garage band music of his eldest son, to the noises in the pool of the neighborhood kids (the Lanz family had a slide!), to the antics of my horse-crazy best friend, Lisa, and her dog Chico. Mr. Lanz had the patience of a saint!
It was Mr. Lanz who came to my aid when I lost control of a home-made go-cart that careened out of control down the alley by their driveway and crashed into the wall. Although it was one of the most embarrassing things I'd done to date, he never once made me feel that way. He picked me up, dusted me off and told me how great the cart was. Then he continued tinkering with his 1932 DeSoto.
Mr. Lanz & Mrs. Lanz had the first waterbed I ever saw. They had the first microwave in the neighborhood. They were the only ones I ever knew who ordered a whole side of beef for the freezer! And a Winnebago, too. That Winegabo, along with watching, "The House on Haunted Hill", gave me the most fun overnights ever.
Mr. Lanz, you were the best dad EVER!

I had the pleasure of working with Bill at A. J. Wahl for a number of years. He was a self taught engineer with an incredible grasp of how machinery was constructed and how it operated. The manufacturers that he worked for (Wahlco, Franciscan, Buffalo China, and Syracuse China) were very fortunate to have someone of his caliber. My most sincere condolences to his family.

Whatever I could say about Bill, it wouldn't be enough.
I always felt that Bill was the number two contributor, over the years, to the success of A. J. Wahl, Inc, second only to A. J. Wahl, himself. In his work, he was often on his own, and made it work. As plant manager, on the other hand, he excelled in his ability to get a good product out the door.
His contribution to what was really his life's work continued even after he no longer worked for WAHLCO.
In my professional and personal life, I enjoyed being with Bill so much. His perception of what was important and his sense of humor were great to be around, very inspiring. And, often extremely entertaining.
The work he did on old cars and boats was amazing to behold.
Bill is often in my thoughts, and will continue to be.

My cousin and good friend, Bill was always a person of inspiration to me. He was a man that greatly valued life, learning and his wonderful family. I will never forget the large part that he and Pat played in my and Marys' life. Bills' passing is a great loss to everyone, especially me, but he will always be fondly remembered.
