I had the pleasure of getting to know Dave when he became the Mayor of Westfield NY. My wife and I needed Dave's support and guidance on several occasions. His door was always opened wide. Dave was a public leader who always made the time to answer an email, take a phone call, or meet in his office. I learned a great deal from Dave regarding his many years as a NYS Trooper. We also shared a common interest of Red House and Allegany State Park. Dave was famlliar with many landmarks that he, his friends, family, and earlier generations were involved with. About two years ago, I was about to enter the Westfield Dinner when Dave arrived at the same time. He accepted my invitation to have lunch with me. His presence made for a wonderful hour or so of conversation, with much of it devoted to his vast knowledge of Red House and the Allegany State Park. Dave was a true gentleman while serving as Mayor, and upon his retirement. He gave his full backing to The Westfield Farmer's Market and other events that have become a part of Westfield. Since coming to Westfield during 1985, my wife and I have met many people from Dave's generation. Many have passed away. We feel a sense of gratitude that we crossed paths with David and many other good people from Westfield. Dave, May You RIP.
