WESTFIELD - Allan L. Harper, age 82, of Brewer Place, Westfield, NY, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Twinbrook Nursing Home of Lawrence Park, PA. Allan was born on June 30, 1933 in Laona, NY, a son of the late William G. and Madeline (Appel) Harper. He married Lois J. Rowe in Westfield, NY on January 30, 1952. A resident of Westfield most all his life, Allan was a 1951 graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School. Immediately following graduation, Allan enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served aboard the USS Baltimore from 1951 until his release from active duty in 1954. He had a long and distinguished career in the Insurance business first with Metropolitan Life and then with the Chautauqua General Insurance Agency and he most recently was associated with the Bristol Burgess Insurance Agency of Westfield until his retirement. He was an accomplished golfer, an avid hunter, and enjoyed bowling and fishing in his younger years. Allan was a member of the John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion, the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 118 and a Life Member of the Westfield Fish and Game Club. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois J. (Rowe) Harper, his one daughter, Brenda Leone of North East, PA and his two sons: Barry Harper of East Amherst and James Harper of Barcelona, NY. Allan was the proud grandfather of Derrick, Sean, Dylan, Alison, Andrea, Rachael and Michael. 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild also survive. He is further survived by his one sister: Laura Manzella of Portland, NY and by his two brothers, Ronald Harper of Richmond, VA, and William Harper. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward G. Harper and by his Step-Mother, Helen (Ward) Harper. No calling hours will be observed. All Services will be private. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Assoc.
