Please share a memory of Peggy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peggy Ann (Beck) Riedesel, age 68, a resident of Batavia, NY for the past 10 years and formerly of North Portage St in Westfield, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center of Batavia, NY. Peggy was born on September 26, 1947 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the Eleanor (Karash) Beck of Westfield and the late Charles Beck. A 1965 Graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School, Peggy had been a Westfield resident most of her life. Just after graduation, on December 10, 1965, Peggy married the love of her life, John W. Riedesel. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2011. Peggy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, and a member of the Women of The Moose Chapter 517, also of Westfield. She had been employed in the Executive Offices of Welch Foods in Westfield as an executive assistant for 10 years and had also worked for Key Bank in Westfield first as a teller and later at the Dunkirk office as an assistant Vice President and Administrative assistant. She then began a very rewarding career working for the Patel family in the Hotel business. She started as manager of the Fredonia Hotel, was transferred to Hamburg, and later to New Jersey, where she was a vital part of opening a new Hotel. Peggy was then promoted to the General Manager of the Hampton Inn and Suites Hotel in Batavia, NY. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially swimming, walking and exploring the Chautauqua Gorge. However, Peggy received most of her joy from spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren and mother were everything to her. She is survived by her daughter, Jody Burdett, her son, Blair Riedesel, and by her mother Eleanor Beck all of Westfield. She is further survived by her sister, Janice (David) Rothwell also of Westfield. Peggy was the proud grandmother of, Jeffrey, Matthew, Valerie and Lauren Burdett, and Sierra Riedesel and great grandmother of Julien Geiger. Besides her father and her husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Beck.
