Obituary of LeRoy Wayne Stepp

WESTFIELD - LeRoy Wayne "Lee" Stepp, Sr., age 68, of Hardscrabble Rd., Westfield, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at St. Vincent Health Center of Erie, PA. LeRoy was born on February 10, 1947 in Sharon, WV, the son of the late Caz Ballard and Mary Frances (Monk) Stepp, Sr. "Lee" as he was known by many of his friends and "Papps" by his close family was a loving, caring, and quick-witted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He served honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War, with the 82nd and 101st Airborne. He was highly decorated and held a Sargent's ranking. He primarily worked in insurance and home improvements. He was a true outdoorsman. His hobbies included fishing, golfing and working on his truck. He also enjoyed maintaining his lawn, especially taking his granddaughter on lawnmower rides. He was famous for his Cowboy hats, which he wore everywhere. He was a great father and role model. He will forever be remembered. Mr. Stepp was a member of The Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge # 118, The John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion, and the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW all of Westfield. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Glenda (Meals) Stepp whom he married on Dec. 11, 1989 in Waco, TX, his three daughters, Misty Rose Simko of Mayville, NY, Melissa Whorton of Waco, TX, and Deena Guthrie of San Antonio, TX, and by his three sons, LeRoy Stepp, Jr. of Westfield, Scott Stepp of Waco, and Todd Stepp of Erie, PA. LeRoy was the very proud grandfather of: Lillianna, Hayden, Rachel, Tiffany, Kaleigh, Brittany, Tyler, Todd and Shelby. He is further survived by his three sisters: Rebecca Lynn Deskins of North Lewisburg, OH, Carol Louise Metzner of Jacksonville, FL, and Beverly Jean Blevins of Lake City, FL and by his one brother: Kenneth "Butch" Stepp of Leavenworth, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his 2 brothers, Caz Ballard Stepp, Jr. and Albert Raymond Stepp. Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 12 noon until the time of services there at 2 PM.
