WESTFIELD - Larry R. Johnston, age 72, of Villa Drive, Westfield, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at home in Westfield. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield as soon as they are available. WESTFIELD - Larry R. Johnston, age 72, of Villa Dr., Westfield, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at home. Larry was born on March 12, 1943 in Mayville, NY the son of the late Robert and Eleanor (Raynor) Johnston. A Graduate of Mayville High School, Larry had been a resident of Westfield most all of his life. Early in life, he had been employed by Welch Foods and the former Dengler Chevrolet both in Westfield. He had been co-owner of the former Vineyard Lanes Bowling Alley for several years and then started Larry Johnston Contracting; a construction company in Westfield, and had built over one hundred homes for area families. He retired in 2013. Larry was an avid fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He traveled to Dayton Beach, FL every year from 1965 until 2014 to attend the races. He was an accomplished bowler and had bowled in several area leagues. Larry was also a football fan and enjoyed supporting the Miami Dolphins. Larry was quick witted and had a wonderful sence of humor. He was a caring man who was always more than willing to help his family and friends with anything they needed. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandy J. (Paternosh) Johnston, whom he married on August 21, 1971, and by his four daughters: Kelly (Rob) Atkins, Kathy Johnston, Tammy (Paul, Jr.) Skelton, all of Westfield, NY, and Lynn (Larry) Madden of Jamestown, NY. Larry was the proud grandfather of, Ashley, Zachery, Levi, Brandon, Haley and Lauren, and great grandfather of Cason. He is further survived by his two sisters: Linda (Jack) Hull of Mayville, NY, and Wendy Bell of Lakewood, NY and by his two brothers: Keith Johnston of Mayville, NY and Michael Johnston of Hamburg, NY He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Rod and Kenny Johnston, and by his sister in law Roxanne Johnston. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend the Funeral Services there on Wednesday morning, October 28, 2015 at 11 Am with Fr. Joseph Walter officiating.
