Obituary of Mary S. Dibble

A Westfield resident all her life, "Billie" graduated from Westfield Academy with the class of 1932. She was a lifelong member of the First united Methodist Church of Westfield, where she was active in many church activities including,several boards and as a Sunday School teacher. She had been employed by the Patterson Library for 50 years as a clerck and as the Westfield Village and Town Historian. She was an accomplished writer who wrote for the Westfield Republican and was known for her column "Dibble's Dabble", which still runs today. Billie has been credited in may Chautauqua County Historial books and publications for her knowledge of local and regional history. Billie was a member of the Westfield YWCA where she had served on the Board as Secretary and youth director, a member of Union Relief, and had served as a Girl Scouot Leader . She had also been employed by Westfield Academy and Central Schools as a cashier in the cafeteria for several years. Her many accolaids included being named as a Westfield Women of the Yearand as a Rotary Community Paul Harris Fellow Recipient. She volunteered at Westfield Hospital as a Gray lady and was a member of the Hospital Auxillary. She was a Red Cross Volunteer anda member fo the Chautauqua County Historical Society where she served on the Westfield Lincoln - Bedell Statue Committee.
