Obituary of David R. Northrop

David R. Northrop, 63, of 6722 Munson Road, Westfield, passed away at his home at 4:30 a.m., Sunday, December 14, 2008, after a short illness. He was born October 31, 1945, in Westfield, the son of the late Rollin J. and Virginia Hicks Northrop. Dave was a 1963 graduate of Westfield Academy & Central School and graduated from Cornell University School of Agriculture in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a lifelong resident of and grape farmer in Westfield. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Marilynne A. Kimball Northrop, whom he married June 24, 1967, in Kennedy, N.Y.; three sons: Daniel (and Amy) Northrop of Dallas, Texas, Wayne Northrop of Portland, Oregon, and Will (and Sherry) Northrop of Westfield, N.Y.; a daughter Sharon (and Aaron) Bachman of East Aurora, N.Y.; six grandsons: Benjamin, Neal and Elijah Bachman, James (Jay) and Casey Northrop, and Matthew Northrop; three granddaughters: Anne, Helen and Clare Northrop; and a sister, Nancy (and Vincent) Walter of Lakewood, N.Y. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, at Mason Funeral Home, Westfield. Father Marius (Joe) Walter of St. Dominic's Parish, Westfield, will conduct the Rite of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 16.
